Tennis is now a competition, but above all "The Eurosport Trophy" is introduced. Whoever wins it for 3 consecutive times, or for 5 times in total, wins it definitively. The Varese school starts off on the right foot. It is their victory this year.
This year the Varese school is hosting the games for the second time. Dance and tennis, a large swimming program, and above all the boat trip on Lake Maggiore are this year’s highlights. After many years of second places, this year the victory goes to Brussels, to the school of Uccle.
It’s the debut of the Aquathlon competition: even though with different distances from those of today (3.500mt of running + 400mt of swimming), this discipline will stay with the games of Eurosport. Varese won the trophy for the second time, leading in five disciplines out of six.
It is the year of field hockey and "racket games" (1 badminton set + 1 tennis set + 1 ping pong set). In the final standings, four teams are separated by two points only: three are ex-aequo in second place, but the victory is for Luxembourg.
It is the new school in Brussels turn to organize the games, and it is the year in which the "Working Group" takes over the reins of the organization of Eurosport. From this edition onwards the disciplines will no longer be at the discretion of the organizers. Varese won this edition, with its "baby team" made up largely of pupils in the first three classes.
For the first time athletes are not accommodated in host families. Youth hostels host the 10 schools that take part in Eurosport from this edition. Hosted at the Olympia Stadium in the Olympic village of Monaco '72 and in the legendary pool of the seven gold medals of Mark Spitz, the Monaco games see an excellent performance by the third school in Brussels, born just five years ago.
Since the last edition the teams have become 12 and it is the second time for the Uccle school to take on organization. On the final podium there are the three schools from Brussels. A triumph for the capital of Europe, and the hosts won the trophy for their second time.
For the first time a school hosts games for the third time. With a "dream team" of basketball that drags the whole team, Luxembourg wins the trophy with clear superiority. For them it is the second time to carry home the trophy.
Great scenery, trips to the city and the return of the handball discipline after 16 years of absence are the characteristics of this edition that sees Brussels III conquer the trophy for the second time.
It is the year of the paella: 13 schools take part in the competition in Alicante, which is able to offer an Olympic organization, with the hospitality of the 440 participants in the hotel, the busses escorted by the police, the paellata for the road and the beach volleyball on the shore at the sea. The team from Alicante is also good on the field and for the first time in its history wins the trophy.
Another superb organization offered by Kirchberg. The schools have become a total 14 and it is increasingly difficult to stand out. Varese succeeds with a team of aquathlon that pulverizes every record and leads Varese to the final conquest of "The Eurosport Trophy". From the next edition the cup will be changed.
"The 12 Stared Cup" enters the scenes. For the first time Eurosport opens its doors to accredited schools. The number of teams competing for the new cup rises to 16. The school of Luxembourg II claims this year’s victory.
